| Notes for Enos NAPPER |
| Enos Emigrated to Australia 27/5/1857 on the SS Herefordshire with his brother and his sister-in-law Edmund and Eliza, and his cousin Joseph. Imigration records state Enos Napper 19, Farm Labourer , Seavington. Parents James and Elizabeth in South Petherton could neither read nor write. Enos lived in Randwick, one of the southern suburbs of Sydney. When he married he built a rather large two storey sandstone house for his wife Mary ann. The family seemed to have a history in farming and hid brothers all had market gardens in the area. However, Enos had also invested money in buying three terrace shops with houses on top. This investment paid off and for at least seven years up until the time of his death he was living by "Independent means". At the time of his death he was quite a wealthy man with his probate stating his property was worth £7434. |
